Goan Green Chutney/ Coconut Spread

Serves: Makes 1 loaf of club sandwiches
This Goan Green Chutney is easy to make and is a tasty spread on breads. This chutney has the basic flavour of the fresh coconut and the fresh green coriander leaves
Ingredients:
• ½ cup grated coconut
• 1 cup fresh green coriander leaves
• ½ tsp. cumin ( jeera)
• ¼ tsp. turmeric powder
• 2 garlic cloves
• 1 small ball of tamarind
• 2 green chillies ( not very spicy)
• 1 tsp. sugar
• A pinch of salt to taste
• ½ onion ( fried)
• Around 60ml of water
Directions :
1. Add all the ingredients into a blender: grated coconut, fresh green coriander leaves (roughly chopped), cumin ( jeera), turmeric powder, garlic cloves , tamarind, green chillies, sugar, pinch of salt to taste, onion ( fried) and round 60ml of water.
2. Blend the ingredients to form a fine thick paste
Green Chutney is ready........
Recipe Notes:
• Makes 1 loaf of bread
• The Chutney Can be kept in the refrigerator for 2 days without adding butter & in the freezer for a month.
• You can also use the chutney paste as a spread on Fried or baked bread Toasties.
