Potato Cheese balls



Prep time: 15 mins        Cook time: 20 mins 
Resting time: 30 mins. 
Serves: Makes 12 Potato cheese balls

These potato Cheese balls recipe is so easy to make, kids will enjoy them.
Ingredients:

250 grms/ 1 cup mashed potato
100gms cheddar cheese grated 
½ tsp garlic paste
¼ tsp pepper powder
¼ tsp herbs (dried)
¼ tsp gram masala
Salt to taste 
1 & ½ tbsp fresh coriander chopped
2 tsp corn flour (for coating)
Bread crumbs (for coating)
1 whisked egg for coating
Oil for frying

Directions:

1. Boil the Potatoes, Mash them & refrigerate for 30 min.( See Recipe Notes).

2. After 30 min add garlic paste,  pepper powder, dried herbs, fresh coriander, 2 tbsp of grated cheese, garam masala, salt to taste and mix well, Make sure the mixture is not too sticky nor too dry.

3. Grease your palm, place 1 tbsp of the potato mix on your palm, Spread the mash , place some cheese in the centre. 

4.    Then bring the sides together, to shape it into a round ball .

5. Roll the Cheese balls in the corn flour.

6.  Then in the whisked egg & then in the bread crumbs. Repeat the egg and bread crumbs twice.

7. In a Deep bottom pan, make sure the oil is hot enough, Gently place the cheese balls and leave them undisturbed for 50 secs. On medium flame, then fry the cheese balls until nice & Golden.Remove the fried cheese balls on a plate lined with Kitchen towel.

8. Alternatively You can bake the Potato cheese balls in the oven at 200’c/ gas mark 6 for 20 min. Place the cheese ball on a baking tray with  greased baking paper, glaze with oil ( optional)


Serve hot with tomato ketchup sauce or schezwan sauce. 


Recipe Notes:

Boil the potatoes with skin on till done, I used 3 large potatoes. Make sure the potatoes don’t turn mushy.
After Boiling the potatoes, peel the skin off  and mash them well into a smooth mash, making sure there are no lumps.
Make sure to seal the potato ball well after filling in the cheese, as cracks or opening will make the Cheese balls, break while frying.
You can substitute the egg by making a paste by adding 3 tbsp of water to 2 tbsp of cornflour.
If any cheese ball cracks while frying immediately remove it, to stop the oil from spoiling, you can fry it last.
