Angel wings

Angel wings are a tasty and crispy Christmas sweet. There are alot of varitions of Angel wings  around the world. This recipe is the Goan version of the crunchy Angel wings.

Ingredients 

1 cup plain flour/ Maida
3 Tbsp Rice flour
3 Tbsp powdered sugar 
4 Tbsp Ghee/ clarified butter
1/4 tsp Cardamom powder ( optional)
Oil for frying
Pinch of salt

Directions 

1. In a mixing bowl, mix together plain flour,   2 tsp Ghee and salt. Add water as required and knead into a soft, smooth dough, close and set aside for 10- 15 mins.

2. In a separate bowl, mix together 3 Tbsp rice flour and 3 Tbsp of ghee and set aside.

3. After 10 mins. roll the dough and divide it into 6 equal balls.

4. On a well floured board, roll the ball into about large round, thin chapatis.

5. Apply/ spread 1 tsp of the flour and ghee mixture on the rolled chapatis and cover with another chapti pressing the edges firmly. 

6.  Repeat the same till all the 6 chapatis are stacked up.


6. Then gently roll it into a whole roll and cut it into about 1 cm pieces.

7. Roll each piece into a Oval shape and give it 3 slight insertions in the centre, with the tip of the knife.

8. In a deep bottom pan, heat oil and deep fry the angel wings on low to medium flame, till they are Golden and crispy. Remove the fried Angel wings on a plate lined with kitchen towel/ tissue.


9. Combine sugar with the Cardamom powder and sprinkle on both the sides of the  Angel wings.

Enjoy Tasty Crispy Angel wings

  • Cool completely and store in an airtight container for upto 2 weeks.
