Goan Prawn Patties / Prawn Puffs

Goan Prawn Patties / Prawn Puffs are a yummy Goan Tea time snack, you will find a variety of Patties at most of the bakeries in Goa.

Ingredients 

• 1 ready rolled Puff pastry ( 320 grms)
• 1 Egg whisked ( egg wash)
• 1 cup Fresh Prawns ( Cut into small pieces)
• 1 large Onion
• 2 Garlic flakes ( minced)
• 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp red chili powder
• 1 tsp Coriander powder
• 1/4 tsp Garam masala
• 1 Green chili (deseeded & finely chopped)
• 2 Tbsp fresh Coriander (finely chopped)
• 1 Tbsp tomato ketchup 
• Pinch of sugar
• Salt as per taste
• 3 Tbsp Oil + for greasing the moulds

Directions 

1. Heat oil in a pan, add Onion & garlic and till the onion is soft on low to med flame. Add the turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and fry for few seconds seconds.

2. Next, add the prawns, cover & cook till prawns are done.

3. Then, add the green chilies, salt to taste, tomato ketchup, pinch of sugar and fry for a minute. Finish with fresh coriander garnish and let the stuffing cool.

4. Cut out 12 pastry rounds using the mould, to cover the top of the patties. Then lightly grease the moulds and line them with the rolled puff pastry. 

5. Next, fill it with sufficient prawn filling.

6. cover the patties mould with the round cutouts. Brush top of pastry with egg wash.

7.  Bake the Patties in a  preheat oven at 400 deg F/ 200 deg C/ Gas Mark 6 . Bake for about 15- 20 minutes, until puffed & golden brown in colour.


Demould the Patties and Serve warm.


Recipe Notes:

You can also make the prawn patties, by cutting the puff pastry into 12 small squares, fill a Tbsp of stuffing and fold over to make small square Patties. Place the Patties in  baking try lined with baking paper, apply the Egg wash & Bake following the same instructions above.
