Doce Bhaji Sweet

Doce Bhaji Goan sweet is made from broken wheat/ Dalia. It's a very healthy & tasty tea time sweet.

Ingredients
  • 1 Cup Broken Wheat
  • 1 Grated coconut (to make thick and thin coconut milk)
  • 1/4 -1/3 Cup Sugar or Jaggery as per taste
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder 
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder 
  • 2 Tbsp  of ghee + for greasing 
  • Pinch of salt or as per taste 
  • Raisins ( Optional)
  • Water as required

Directions 

1.   Wash the Broken wheat & Soak it in water             for 2 - 3 hrs.

2.   Extract thick coconut milk by adding 1 cup water to the grated coconut into a grinder. Second time grind the coconut with 2 cups of water to get thin coconut milk. 

3.   In a Pan , add broken wheat and thin coconut milk. Stirring occasionally Cook until it slighty thickens.

4. Then add the thick Coconut milk, add sugar, cardamom, nutmeg powder and salt. Stir continuously, or else it will get burnt at the bottom of the pan. 

5. Lastly add Ghee and keep stirring and Cook till the Doce bhaji  thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.

6.  Grease a plate or baking tray with ghee or baking paper, pour the Doce Bhaji , decorate with Raisins or dry fruits of your choice, let it cool and set.


Recipe Notes:
  • Make sure to soak the broken wheat or else it won’t cook well.
  • You can substitute the sugar for Jaggery and adjust the sweetness as per taste.
  • You can also use Milk instead of Coconut Milk, the taste will be a bit different.
